Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
If the overview of the RCIA process seems daunting, fear not! You will be experiencing this RCIA journey with other adults who are learning about the Catholic Church. A team of dedicated people from the parish community will meet with the group weekly to assist you as you deepen your understanding of the Catholic faith.
The Church also gives the inquiring person a sponsor who will share the journey and join you at RCIA sessions and other special events. Most importantly, the process takes place within a parish community that will support you with their prayers
How do I begin this process?
The way to begin this process of becoming Catholic is to get connected to a parish community. Catholic friends and neighbors can tell you about their own parishes and you might ask to go to a Mass with them. You may call the pastor of a parish and tell him you are thinking about becoming Catholic. He or someone he asks to meet with you would be very happy to talk with you.
You may also call the diocesan Office of Adult Faith Formation to speak with Martha Drennan, the Director of Adult Faith Formation at (603) 663-0172.
The Catholic Church welcomes your interest in our Church. The RCIA process has been a blessing for our parishes. Those in the Catholic faith community speak of the renewal of their own faith as they witness those engaged in the RCIA process prepare to become fully initiated members of the Catholic Church.
