Abortion

“God’s love does not differentiate between the newly conceived infant still in his or her mother’s womb and the child or young person, or the adult and the elderly person.”
~ Pope Benedict XVI, Address to the Participants at the 12th General Assembly of the Pontifical Academy for Life and Congress on “The Human Embryo in the Pre-Implantation Phase," February 27, 2006

Catholic teaching on abortion is rooted in the recognition that the dignity of each human person begins at the moment of conception and flows through life until we face the end of our earthly journey. From its earliest days, the Church has attested to the dignity of the dignity of human life in the womb.

While Catholics advocate as the bishops of the United States have encouraged in their “Statements of Responsibilities in Public Life” to “work actively to restrain, restrict, and bring to an end the destruction of unborn life,” we also simultaneously remember that God constantly calls everyone back to Himself. All of those whose lives have been touched by abortion are encouraged to seek healing and forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Hyde Amendment

The federal Hyde Amendment prohibits federal money from being used to fund elective abortions. Although the Amendment has been reenacted every year since 1976, it is under threat in the budget now being considered by Congress. Please share the 30-second video posted on Facebook and on Twitter and consider signing the national petition at notaxpayerabortion.com.
