Priesthood Ordination 2021

The Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, Bishop of Manchester, ordained Reverend David Gagnon and Reverend Joseph Moynahan to the priesthood at Saint Joseph Cathedral in Manchester on Saturday, June 5.

Bishop Libasci said, “In the context of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the celebration of which is their primary responsibility and foundation for their care of souls, Fathers Gagnon and Moynahan already begin their priestly ministry as witnesses to the continuous living presence of Jesus Christ in the world. They must be faithful and reliable witnesses. May the joy that fills the Cathedral on this happy occasion remain in their hearts and in the hearts of all people of good will. May they be true disciples of our Lord and fruitful as they minister in His name.”

David Gagnon is the son of Mr. Marcel and Mrs. Constance Gagnon. A parishioner of Saint Anthony of Padua Parish, he grew up in Manchester and attended Trinity High School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Providence College in Rhode Island, and served as a police officer in Derry, New Hampshire, from 2016 to 2018. He attended Saint Meinrad Seminary, Indiana. He was vested at ordination by Very Rev. Richard Dion.

Joseph Moynahan is the son of Mr. Robert and Mrs. Carla Moynahan and was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish in Portsmouth. Growing up in Eliot, Maine, he attended Marshwood High School in South Berwick, and graduated from the University of Southern Indiana, Evansvillle, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. He worked as a registered nurse at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital until he entered Saint John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts. He was vested at ordination by Rev. Gary Belliveau.
